Abstract:
The development of new research related to photovoltaic energy is becoming increasingly important, and in order for it to be carried out in the best way, it requires the help of certain equipment, such as solar simulators. Therefore, this work aims to develop a prototype of equipment capable of simulating the intensity and spectrum of sunlight using a lighting arrangement with a combination of 10 white LED reflectors, 6 halogen lamps and a set of power LEDs emitting radiation at wavelengths of 450 nm (blue), 750 nm (magenta) and 850 nm (infrared). This arrangement was organized in order to obtain a homogeneous distribution of light on a surface of 600 cm2. To characterize the proposed solar simulator, in accordance with the IEC 60904-9 standard, Spectral Correspondence (SM), Spectral Non-Uniformity (SNU) and Temporal Instability were analyzed. (TIE) For the three parameters analyzed (SM = 1.05, SN = 4.6 and TIE = 0.08) the proposed simulator is classified as BAA. As a proof of concept, the power x voltage (P − V ) and current x voltage (I − V ) curves of a 5W solar panel with an area equal to 300 cm2 were plotted through the simulator and outdoors. A relative error of less than 4% was found for all analyzed panel parameters. The results indicated in this work show the feasibility of designing a solar simulator with low-cost incandescent and semiconductor light sources and with potential for characterizing commercial photovoltaic equipment. .
