The faculty members of the Graduate Program in Applied Cellular and Molecular Biology have backgrounds in biological sciences, biomedicine, pharmacy, nutrition, medicine, chemical engineering, agronomic engineering, and statistics (areas of biological, agrarian, health sciences, and engineering). As a result, the spectrum of activity in the lines of research is broad, guaranteeing diversified training for students to solve problems and understand processes related to cellular biology, molecular biology, and biotechnology. In addition, this diversity of areas of expertise has attracted candidates with different backgrounds at undergraduate level.

The stricto sensu graduate program in Applied Cellular and Molecular Biology of the Instituto de Ciências Biológicas aims to contribute to the training of human resources with the capacity and mastery of the state of the art in their field; with the power to argue and support their ideas among their peers and other fields of knowledge with a view to building partnerships or networks for the production of scientific knowledge; and in-depth knowledge in the field of cellular and molecular biology that will enable them to perform with excellence in the development of projects and in professional activities that require mastery of these areas, as well as their biotechnological applications.
